Exploring the 7 Chakras Part Three:Solar Plexus

Exploring the 7 Chakras: Solar Plexus (Manicure) by Soul Sisters Designs

The Solar Plexus Chakra

The Solar Plexus Chakra is also known as Manipura in Sanskrit, which translates to "shining jewel" or "place of jewels." It is located just above the belly button. It is symbolized by a ten petal lotus with a downward facing triangle. The Solar Plexus' element is fire and its color is yellow, symbolic of the color of the sun. The Solar Plexus is where our prana or life force energy radiates from making it of great significance to our overall wellbeing. The level of fire within us corresponds to how much energy and zest for life we have. Without a balanced Solar Plexus, we may lack self-awareness, energy and the ability to work towards our goals and fulfill our dreams. However, just possessing the fire aspect of the Solar Plexus doesn't create harmony in this Chakra. Balancing the fire with sympathy, compassion and sensitivity towards others is essential in harmonizing the Solar Plexus.
